GENERATION SHIMMERS 2 oz size Shimmer Opaque is a rich, vibrant and white Pearlescent gel medium that is opaque. Try adding Colorant to create endless colors. Shimmer Opaque can be applied with a foam brush, sponge, finger, or bristle brush and can hold its texture when dry. Simply scoop out a small amount and spread to get the desired effects. For a blended look apply 2 or more colors while wet. Easy to use on any surface including clothing and will not wash off. Add a little glitter for more pizzazz. Sponge it lightly on a gourd or other material for a faux raku effect or paint it on the backside of a glass plate so the vibrancy shows through the glass. Suggested to use an Earth Safe Finishes to seal and protect your art. For more working time, add a little of Earth Safe Finishes Extender. Non-toxic, contains no VOC's. The Gold Shimmer Opaque may be used to create a faux gold leaf. Brush on the Gold Shimmer, let dry and then go over it with any Colorant to achieve the beautiful variegated gold leaf look. I suggest that Shimmer Opaque be protected with one of Earth Safe Finishes high quality varnishes for the best durability. If more working time is desired, add a little of extender for slower drying. Conforms to ASTM D4236. Shimmer Translucent is a transparent medium applied to a surface to give a texture, color and depth to it. It is fun and exciting to use as you can create fabulous pieces of art by “layering” the shimmers over each other. These shimmers can be applied with a cosmetic sponge or a brush to your gourd art and using multiple colors shows a gorgeous glow of color because it is transparent and does not change the colors already added, it just enhances what color is below it. You can also mix several colors together to create unique shimmering effects. They can also be mixed with Stewart Superior Inks and Pigment Powders and Colorant to intensify the color, making it less transparent. Best way to apply to gourd is using a cosmetic sponge or microbrush and when using it on other surfaces, you can use a rag, sponge, plastic bags and anything else that adds texture. Directions for Use: Apply with a brush, sponge, finger or any type of utensil desired. Start out with a light coat until you achieve the look you want. May add 10% water to thin for a less textured look or may just soften with a soft cloth or brush. Although there is adequate time to “play” with the shimmers, it is best to work as quickly as possible. You can also add extender to prolong the working time. PALETTE METALLIC INK DYES 3 gram jars acid free, archival, fade resistant Palette™ Metallic's are permanent metallic ink that everyone loves. Better coverage than most acrylic metallic paint. Unlike the original ink dyes, the metallic ink dyes are thick and opaque. Create stunning results on light or dark surfaces. These water-based metallic inks can be re-activated initially with water before needing re-inking. Works on virtually all surfaces - some surfaces may require heat setting. Using the metallic ink dyes: Because the metallic inks are so thick I am now offering them in 3 gram jars. 	mod podge - satin 8 oz I have been doing some decoupage on the inside of my gourds as something different and boy is it fun! Give your gourd bowls some personality with decoupage. Decoupage is the art of cutting out and adhering paper (you can also use fabric) images to any surface creating intricate works of art. The simple cut and paste methods of the past are much more sophisticated today. With true decoupage work it is difficult to tell what is paper and what is actual painting. There has been a resurgence of interest in Decoupage throughout the world in the last few decades, with serious enthusiasts committed to producing work of a very high standard. Objects are decorated with images, perhaps from the work of a particular era. The design is executed by cutting out the images, adding further images from varied resources, painting an appropriate background, gluing the images into place, and covering the object with a depth of varnish which allows the composition to glow through. Varnishing, sanding and polishing are generally recognized as the most labor intensive areas connected with this art form. Making the transition from a craft to a fine art is simply a matter of artistic placement of the decoupage materials and the building up of layers varnish. One of a kind expressions of art are easy to accomplish. Create with your own art, pictures or use existing prints or photographs. Making decoupaged images using digital imaging from the computer is a new exciting way of making beautiful and creative works of art. Mod Podge makes the process easy. USING RAZERTIP, COLWOOD, OPTIMA AND NIBSBURNER WOODBURNING PENS ON BURNMASTER BURNERS

Although Burnmaster will accommodate all brands of woodburning pens I DO NOT recommend using Razertip, Optima, Colwood or Nibsburner. I have used Razertip pens on the Burnmaster and found them to get too hot for comfort. Razertip requires an adaptor (that comes with the burner) and I have been getting lots of complaints over the years from other Razertip and Colwood users stating the pens were getting too hot and in some cases actually burning out the pens. I have also seen other brands of pens literally melt down in front of my eyes in my classes.

I always recommend buying the brand of pen that matches the woodburner you are using but some will work better than others on different burners without causing any damage to the woodburning pens.

If you choose to use a brand of pen other than Detailmaster I strongly recommend that you use the lowest temperature necessary to do the job. Using too high a heat will result in burn out and may negate any warranty you may have on your woodburning pen.
