Do You Want to Start a Craft Business?

Have you wanted to start a craft business and didn't know where to begin? This is the place to look.  I've collected some of the best books to help you get started.

I started my first business back in 1992 after suffering from a breakdown due to stress on the job. Other than my career (which I had to give up) I had no marketable skills other than my art. I discovered gift baskets and with the help from a few local business people I started what was to become a very successful a gift basket business that grew so much in three years I could no longer handle it by myself and sold the business. My gift baskets were "works of art", not just typical gift basket. But it was not just the unique, original baskets that made the business a success,. it was learning how to run a business that made helped make it the success it became in such a short time.

It's not easy starting a business but now there are so many helpful guides to get you on your way. You can have a successful craft business and my small gift basket business was proof that it can be done.

Building Your Business the Right-Brain Way: Sustainable Success for the Creative Entrepreneur
by Jennifer Lee

Entrepreneurial businesses are the fastest growing segment of the U.S. economy as people opt out of a challenging job market, seek to create a craft business “on the side,” or pursue post-retirement endeavors. But many people with a terrifically innovative and commercially viable product or service defer their dream out of fear (and perhaps loathing) of number crunching, strategic planning, marketing, and the like. In her popular The Right-Brain Business Plan book, online course, and in-person seminars, Jennifer Lee got creative types
over this hump with planning as playful as it is practical. Now with Building Your Business the Right-Brain Way, she guides readers through the next phases of business, from finding and keeping customers, working with staff and vendors, and setting goals to brand building, expanding, and even taking time to celebrate and knowing when to walk away. Worksheets, exercises, and
real-world examples help readers use their right-brain strengths to be as successful as they are creative.
